Al Bhed is the language spoken by the Al Bhed tribe in Final Fantasy X. It is actually a mono-alphabetic substitution cipher. In other words, one letter is replaced by another to get an Al Bhed word.
Since the system for Al Bhed works very differently in the Japanese version of FFX and the English one,
this section covers only the alphabet used in the UK/USA versions of the
game.

Proper Nouns
In Al Bhed, proper nouns are not translated but are the same in English and Al Bhed. For example "Sin has come!" is translated as "Sin ec lusa!".
Al Bhed Primers
In the game, there are 26 primers, each of which give you more information about the Al Bhed alphabet. Once you have collected all of them, Tidus will be able to understand the Al Bhed language fully. Furthermore, by visiting Rin's Travelling Agency, you can receive 99 Underdog's Secrets. You can sell them for 5000 Gil each, or combine them with other items using Rikku's overdrive. However, their most useful function is that 30 Underdog's Secrets can be synthesised with a weapon to enable a "Double Overdrive".

If you have missed a previous primer, you can find volumes I, III, V and XIV in the Eastern area of the Sanubia Desert. Volume I is in the northeast of the desert, volume III is near where Wakka is, volume V is near Kimahri and volume XIV is near the treasure box in the ruins.
