If you haven't figured it out yet Emerald and Ruby weapon are two optional bosses in FF7. They’re only in the American version game so if have something else you won’t find them. They give the only real fighting challenge in the game. They are both extremely tough. It doesn’t matter if you’re at level 99, they’re still gonna give you a problem. Other than these two there is Ultima and Diamond, but they’re nothing to Emerald and Ruby.

What is needed to work my strategy:

- Nights of the Round materia (chocobo side quest)
- Magic Plus materia
- Enough HP and MP plus materia for max
- 3 Mimic materias (chocobo side quest)
- As many elixirs and mega elixirs as possible.
- Final Attack Materia (chocobo racing)
- Phoenix materia
- Underwater materia (morph a ghost ship into guidebook and give it to kalm traveler)
- W-summon (battle square at GS)
- All materia with Haste
- Absolutely no Counter material

Emerald Weapon:

The first one you should take care of should be Emerald; you can find him under the ocean swimming around the floor. Give a character Final Attack-Phoenix combo, with this that character will revive the others whenever s/he dies. Give another NotR-W-summon; this character can cast NotR twice. I heard from some other places that you can also add Quadra Magic to KotR but I've tried to and it doesn’t work. Give the last character All-Haste; he will cast it the beginning. Give everyone Mimic materia, this is VERY important. At the start of the fight cast Haste on everybody. Now cast W-summon with NotR. Then every character will use Mimic and cast NotR twice for no MP. If you gave your characters Magic Plus they will cause a lot more damage. When your characters die (which will probably happen) just start the chain again. The main problem of this strategy is that Emerald’s crystals can deplete all of your MP, meaning no more Final Attack. If you work fast enough you can kill all of the crystals before they attack. If you run low on MP use a mega elixir and then use NotR again. DON'T SCREW UP THE COMBO!!! He has about a million HP but he'll fall pretty quickly if you keep up my strategy. Don't give up, he's not impossible, I beat him after all. You won't go unrewarded; you will get the Earth Harp. Trade this useless item in to the Kalm traveler and he will give you a full set of master materia, very good.

Ruby Weapon:

This one’s a little easier. The hard part is that he will take 2 of your characters out the fight permanently! To fix this, kill 2 characters before the fight. After Ruby puts his tentacles into the ground use Phoenix to revive them. DO NOT ATTACK THE TENTACLES!!! If you kill them Ruby will go back to his original position and get rid of your characters! This one uses the same strategy as Emerald. The only problem is that he will counter every hit with Ultima, which will almost kill your characters. You can use a mega elixir to heal them or just continue with NotR and let final attack take care of it. I suggest the first one. In this fight you’ll have some master materia so it's a tad easier. He should fall even faster than Emerald. Your reward is pretty stupid, a gold chocobo. If you have NotR you should already have one.
